A woman was arrested for allegedly carrying a semi-automatic handgun into Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.
The .380 caliber pistol was loaded with 13 bullets, according to the Maryland Transportation and Security Administration.
The woman, a resident of Taneytown, Maryland, allegedly kept the gun in a carry-on bag, according to the TSA.
The gun was spotted at a checkpoint and TSA officers confiscated the gun and arrested the woman.
Guns, bullets and gun parts are not allowed in carry-on luggage, bringing a firearm to an airport security checkpoint may carry criminal charges and fines of up to $11,000.
This is not the first time this year a Maryland woman was arrested for allegedly bringing a gun into BWI.
A Frederick woman was arrested in April for carrying a loaded 9 mm Luger pistol, a model used by Germans in World War I and World War II, in her carry-on luggage.
Guns can be transported in checked bags provided they are unloaded, declared to the airline and follow TSA guidelines for transportation of a gun.
