FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — A Frederick woman faces the possibility of life in prison at her sentencing in Frederick for killing her 67-year-old grandmother.
The sentencing Thursday of 21-year-old Hestina Harris concludes a case without a clear motive.
A jury convicted Harris of first-degree murder in March for fatally stabbing Lillie Morris at their home near Burkittsville in December 2014. The jury rejected defense arguments that Morris was not criminally responsible for her actions.
Harris told a defense psychologist she had been visited by deceased family members and a demon-like figure.
Morris was stabbed 20 times. She was found on the front lawn of the home she shared with her husband, her granddaughter and Harris' baby daughter.
Harris denied stabbing Morris. She told police she saw a masked man running from the house.
