A 42-year-old man was charged in the stabbing death of his on-again, off-again girlfriend Saturday night in the parking lot of a Glen Burnie apartment complex, Anne Arundel County Police said.
Michael Carroll Wilson is also accused of stabbing a second woman who tried to intervene shortly before 11:30 p.m. in the 7800 block of Tall Pines Court, police said. The second victim, who was stabbed in the hand, was hospitalized and released.
An overnight manhunt for Wilson, involving air patrols and search dogs, ended with his arrest Sunday morning. Officers spotted him about 8:45 a.m. and gave chase on foot. He was arrested in the 7800 block of Crain Highway South, less than one mile from the parking lot, police said.
Wilson is charged with murder, assault, reckless endangerment and possessing a dangerous weapon with the intent to injure, police said.
Sunday afternoon, officers said they were still investigating the object used in the stabbings. It was sharp and pointed, resembling a box cutter or knife, police said.
Charlotta Lynn Barkley, 46, died about three hours after she was stabbed multiple times, police said. They said she lived in the apartments.
Police did not name the second victim.
An investigation determined Wilson and Barkley had been arguing in the apartment parking lot, police said. Then Wilson stabbed Barkley and the second woman and he ran away, police said.
