Disorderly man hospitalized after scuffling with Frederick police

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — Police in Frederick say a man has been hospitalized after scuffling with officers.

Spokeswoman Michele Bowman said Monday that the man became incoherent and appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol after he was taken into custody Sunday night near the downtown city center.

Bowman says the officers responded to a report of a disorderly subject at about 9:30 p.m. She says the man immediately tried to assault the officers and was taken into custody "after a brief physical altercation."

Police have not released the man's name or medical condition.
