ROCKVILLE — A Philadelphia woman accused of dumping her quadriplegic son in the woods so she could visit her boyfriend in Maryland will be going back to her home state.
Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office spokesman Ramon Korionoff said Tuesday that Nyia Parler had waived extradition and will be returned to Pennsylvania from Maryland. Korionoff did not say when that would happen, however.
Philadelphia police Lt. John Walker had previously said officers would pick Parler up if she agreed to return. He says Parler's 21-year-old son remains hospitalized in stable condition after spending four cold, rainy days in the woods near his home this month.
The young man has been treated for malnutrition, dehydration and abrasions.
