A detective determined that a university student sent the messages and on Feb. 24 received an arrest warrant for Muqarrab Ahmed Abdullah, who was arrested Feb. 27 by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. Police say Abdullah was not known to the student who received the messages.

Abdullah, 24, of La Plata is charged with electronic communication harassment, telephone misuse for repeated calls, and race/religion crime: person/group, police said.
