A Glen Burnie man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a road rage incident in Harford County.
MacKinley Carlos Williams Jr., 38, was charged Saturday with attempted first- and second-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault following the July 26 confrontation.
According to the sheriff’s office, an unnamed victim was driving on Willoughby Beach Road in Edgewood around 4:35 p.m. when he or she was passed by two drivers in other cars who began gesturing and taunting the victim. The victim followed the two vehicles to Flying Point Park where a verbal fight ensued. One man challenged the victim to a fight and told the victim to follow him before driving away.
Shortly afterward in the area of Palmetto Drive and Redbud Road, Williams allegedly rolled down the window of his car and fired at the victim’s vehicle, the sheriff’s office said. The victim drove away, hitting Williams’ vehicle.
The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident and was treated at the scene for other injuries unrelated to the gunfire.
Shortly after the road rage incident, sheriff’s deputies spotted a vehicle at Route 24 and Trimble Road matching the description of the assailant vehicle. The deputies attempted to stop the vehicle but were unable. They later found it abandoned in the 300 block of McCann St. Authorities also responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at Flying Point Park that matched the description of the one involved in the road rage incident.
Williams is currently being held without bail.
