Upper Marlboro — A grand jury has indicted a Maryland county police lieutenant who's accused of sexually assaulting a woman in 2017 while he was off duty.
News outlets report the jury handed up a second-degree sex offense charge against Prince George's County Lt. Richard Tallant on Tuesday.

Police said in a statement Tallant has been suspended without pay since April while they investigated accusations he assaulted a woman he knew "while attending a social outing" in Upper Marlboro two years ago.
The Washington Post reports Prince George's State's Attorney Aisha Braveboy says her office made the decision to charge Tallant and bring the case to a grand jury.

It’s unclear whether Tallant has an attorney who can comment on his behalf.
