Maryland Judiciary warns of court scam

Scam artists are attempting to steal Social Security numbers and other personal information by posing as court officers enforcing jury duty requirements, the Maryland court system said Friday.

In the scam, a caller claiming to work for the court tries to convince the victim that he or she failed to appear for jury duty. A Maryland Judiciary spokesman said that courts do not seek payments or personal information by phone or email.
