Man charged with setting fire at Spring Grove Hospital

A 36-year-old man is charged with setting a fire at the Spring Grove Hospital Center in Catonsville Monday, according to the State Fire Marshal's office.

Steven Paul Golob set fire to vegetation outside the Stone Cottage "G," which spread to the exterior of the building and an air conditioning unit, the fire marshal's office said. Baltimore County firefighters responded and extinguished the blaze within minutes. The blaze caused nearly $1,500 in damage to the structure and the building's air conditioning unit.

Golob was taken St. Agnes Hospital for evaluation and, confessed to setting the fire, the fire marshal's office said.

Online court records did not list an attorney for Golob and he could not immediately be reached Tuesday evening.

He is charged with first-degree arson, second-degree arson, first-degree malicious burning, reckless endangerment and malicious destruction of property.
