Fayziev was a senior at Franklin High School, said his older sister, Kamila Fayzieva.

Investigators believe Fayziev and two other people were in the car when they were approached by two others, who opened the rear doors and started assaulting the back-seat passenger. During the fight, someone fired a shot that hit Fayziev in the upper body, police said.

The two people who had approached Fayziev's car then got into a vehicle driven by a third person, police said.

Police on Tuesday announced the arrest of Brayhant Leonel Sosa-Gonzalez, 20, of Reisterstown. Sosa-Gonzalez is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree assault, and is being held without bail at the county detention center. Police did not elaborate on his role in the incident. No attorney was listed in court records.

Authorities are also looking for two other suspects. Cpl. John Wachter, a police spokesman, said investigators are still working to determine a motive.

Kamila Fayzieva said her brother had been dropping off friends on Sunday night.

"He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time," she said.

Fayzieva was one of three children, his sister said. He enjoyed soccer, and he could not stand to "see someone being sad," she said.

"He always tried to cheer everyone up," she said. "He had a very good sense of humor."

Fayzieva said her family came to the United States from Uzbekistan a decade ago. The family is taking her brother's body back to their native country for burial, as most of their relatives still live there, she said.
