Misplaced luggage prompts bomb squad to Owings Mills garage

Commuters may have noticed a significant police presence Thursday morning near the Owings Mills metro stop, but the issue that prompted the response ended up being a misplaced piece of luggage.

The Baltimore County police bomb squad responded at about 10:41 a.m. to the parking garage at the metro station for a suspicious package, according to police spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher. The package was identified as a "luggage case" that did not contain explosives.

"We take every call very seriously," said Rogers-Feher.

Rogers-Feher said she suspects someone placed their luggage down and was later distracted.
