Two officers hurt attempting to arrest hit-and-run suspect

Charges are pending against a man who slammed an officer's hand in a door when police tried to arrest him Monday night in a hit-and-run investigation, a Baltimore County police spokeswoman said.

The man, who was not identified, was wanted in connection with a crash at Nine Mile Circle and Frederick Road, said police spokeswoman Cpl. Cathy Batton. Two officers went to his house on Frederick Road to arrest him when he ran to a bathroom and slammed the door, hitting one officer's hand, Batton said. A second officer was injured during the struggle to take him into custody.

Both officers were taken to Saint Agnes Hospital. Batton said one officer will return to work immediately but the other will remain out of work for an extended time.
