Baltimore County Police have identified a woman whose body was found in a Catonsville park last week and a man has been charged in her death.

Police said Carlita Coleman, 21, of the 1200 block of Black Friars Road was found in the nearby Westview neighborhood park Friday night. Police determined Coleman's death was a homicide and have arrested Terrence Omar Newman, 21, Jr., of the 1000 block of Collwood Road, in connection.

Officers were called around 10 p.m. Friday to the park, at Gilston Park and Chesworth roads, where they found Coleman's partially decomposed body.

Police said an autopsy will determine the cause of death.

Coleman and Newman were acquaintances, police said, but did not provide information about a motive.

Newman is charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. No attorney is listed for Newman in online court records.

Police said the incident remains under investigation and anyone with information may call police at 410-307-2020.
