Rosedale man, 77, dies after being assaulted by grandson, police say

Phillip Misowitz was indicted Monday on charges of first-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault, court records show.

A Rosedale man has died after his grandson allegedly assaulted him last month, Baltimore County police said Tuesday.

Police say they found Robert Harmic, 77, suffering from a head injury the night of Sept. 10 at an apartment in the 12000 block of Chesaco Avenue. When officers arrived at the apartment, his grandson, Phillip Misowitz, 32, was sitting on the front steps with what looked like blood on his shirt, they say

"You guys are here for me," Misowitz allegedly told the officers.

Police say that Misowitz was arguing with his mother and Harmic when he allegedly picked up a glass candy jar in the living room and threw it at his grandfather, hitting him in the head.

Harmic was taken to Franklin Square Hospital. He died Sept. 29. An autopsy found that death was a homicide and caused by blunt force trauma, police said.

Misowitz was indicted Monday on charges of first-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault, court records show.

He is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. No attorney is listed in court records.
