A former longtime Baltimore County police officer who recently left the department was charged this week with a sex offense.

A man reported in July that he was sexually abused by Roesler when he was a teenager, police said. The abuse allegedly began in 2000 and took place over a period of about four years, police said.

Roesler turned himself in at the Towson precinct Wednesday and was released on $50,000 bail, police said.
