A former longtime Baltimore County police officer who recently left the department was charged this week with a sex offense.
David G. Roesler, 53, of Felton, Pa., is charged in the county with child abuse and fourth-degree sex offense. Roesler, who was assigned to the K-9 Unit, left the department last month after working there since 1986, police said.
A man reported in July that he was sexually abused by Roesler when he was a teenager, police said. The abuse allegedly began in 2000 and took place over a period of about four years, police said.
Roesler turned himself in at the Towson precinct Wednesday and was released on $50,000 bail, police said.
His defense attorney, Joe Murtha, declined to comment Thursday.
