The owner of a Randallstown crab shack has been charged with second-degree murder after police say he shot and killed an employee during an argument last month.

Baltimore County police on Thursday announced the charge against Kresslin Vondez Clark Sr., 44. They say he killed employee Daniel Anthony Lyles, 32, of Parkville, at Fat Daddy's Crabs in the 9000 block of Liberty Road.

"He's pleading not guilty and there will be a trial," defense attorney Gary S. Bernstein said.

Officers were called to Fat Daddy's Crabs shortly before 6 p.m. Aug. 5, police said. Lyles was declared dead at the scene.

Clark told investigators that Lyles came toward him and threatened to kill him while reaching into his waistband, according to police. A folding knife was found clipped to the front of Lyles' belt.

Police say Lyles was shot once in the upper body.

A grand jury indicted Clark last week on charges of second-degree murder, manslaughter and a firearms charge. He is free on $250,000 bail.
