A father and son were fatally shot inside their Rosedale home Monday night, police say.
Shortly after 9 p.m. Monday, detectives responded to the 7400 block of Plainview Road and found 55-year-old Christopher Walker and his son, 24-year-old Justin Walker, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Bridgett Abramuk said she didn’t know the deceased men, but she stopped by the house to say a prayer.
“I was sad,” she said of the shooting. “We saw all the police cars and the ambulance. When I saw an ambulance didn’t come back out, I knew it was fatal.”
Abramuk owns a home nearby on Summit Avenue and has lived in the neighborhood since 1998. This is a quiet neighborhood, she said, adding people are friendly. She said he couldn’t recall a similar incident in all her time living there.
Dexter Ellison, who owns a four-bedroom on Plainview Road, said the two men would occasionally wave to him as they came and went, but didn’t know them personally.
Although he lives about three houses up the hill from the Walkers’ house, he said he was asleep and didn’t hear the shooting.
He moved to the neighborhood 15 years ago, he said, because it’s quiet and has a good school district. The shooting has not changed his perspectives on the area, he said. But he acknowledged that Plainview Road can be dark at night.
“They need more lights out here because it’s dark down here,” he said. “People think they can get away with stuff because there’s no light.”
The department is asking people with information about the killings to call 410-307-2020, or to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP if they wish to remain anonymous. Metro Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads to criminal charges in the case.
