A Towson pizzeria owner is offering police free slices next month as a thank you for arresting the man suspected of burglarizing the shop in the buff two weeks ago.
Baltimore County police may eat for free during December at Slice of Towson New York Pizza, owner Paul Rizas said.
The naked burglar was caught on security cameras ransacking the shop early Nov. 10.
"I'm grateful to them for taking it seriously," Rizas said.
On Monday, police announced they had charged Jonathan Karron Newman, 23, of Rosedale with second-degree burglary. He has been released on $50,000 bail.
Newman could not be reached for comment and online court records did not list his attorney.
The burglar climbed in through a roof vent and his sweatpants got snagged, Rizas said. The man stripped off his pants — he wasn't wearing underwear, Rizas said — then wrapped his shirt around his head and ransacked the store. He caused at least $3,000 in damage. There was no money in the registers, and the man ran out.
Police released images of the burglar — censored images — and Rizas offered free pizza to anyone who provided police information leading to an arrest. He posted the offer to Facebook, along with his pizzeria rules: "No shoes, no pants, no service!"
Police said they connected at car at the scene to Newman.
"I got to give something to someone that will show my appreciation," Rizas said.
