Dundalk man arrested in connection with July 6 assault

Baltimore County police have charged a man with attempted first-degree murder after another man was found beaten on the side of the road in Dundalk earlier this month.

Shane Michael Williams, 24, of Dundalk, is being held without bail at the county detention center, police said Tuesday. He is also charged with first- and second-degree assault.

Police say they were called to the 2600 block of North Point Road about 3:30 a.m. on July 6. They found an injured 20-year-old man lying next to the road.

The name of the victim, who police say remains hospitalized, was not released.

Williams and the victim knew each other, but investigators have not determined a motive for the assault, police said. The Baltimore County Police Violent Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate.

No attorney is listed for Williams in online court records.
