Multiple police vehicles remained parked on Hollins Street on Friday afternoon, as crime scene technicians and officers worked inside and outside the home.

Both men were transported to a nearby hospital, where the 26-year-old man was in critical condition, police said. The 24-year-old’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The block is where the city’s Union Square and Franklin Square neighborhoods meet. It is less than a half-mile from where another man — 40-year-old Ricky Dale Jones — was fatally shot in the head in his home in the city’s New Southwest/Mount Clare neighborhood, just south of Union Square, on Thursday.

Police said they did not immediately know Friday where the two incidents were related.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 410-396-2221 or Metro Crime Stoppers 1-866-7-LOCK-UP.

Through March 17, homicides were down 28 percent and non-fatal shootings were down 34 percent compared to the same time last year, according to city data.

However, non-fatal shootings in the previous 28-day period were up compared to the same period last year, the data show.
