Man shot in ankle in West Baltimore, police say

A 26-year-old man was shot in the ankle in West Baltimore on Thursday evening, Baltimore Police said Friday.

Officers responded to a reported shooting about 6:57 p.m. in the 1300 block of N. Monroe St., in the Bridgeview Greenlawn neighborhood bordering Sandtown-Winchester, and located a crime scene but no victim, police said.

About 7:40 p.m., they located the wounded man at a local hospital where he’d gone for treatment, police said. They believe the man was shot at the N. Monroe St. scene based on a preliminary investigation, police said.

Police found no witnesses, they said.

Shootings have been down so far in 2018, compared to last year.

Through Feb. 10, non-fatal shootings were down 46 percent citywide, and total shootings were down 44 percent. Homicides were down 37 percent.
