Baltimore police are investigating the stabbing death of a 61-year-old man in the Southern District of the city.
Police say the stabbing took place at 4:34 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of Carroll St. in the Washington Village-Pigtown neighborhood. Officers took a person of interest into custody, police said.
No other details were immediately available. The homicide took place nearly a half mile west of Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
The killing pushes Baltimore's yearly homicide count to 57, compared with 48 at the same time last year. The homicide is the second in a row for the department's Southern District. On Wednesday, 14-year-old Tywaun Short was shot to death in the 4100 block of Audrey Ave. near the Anne Arundel County line. A 28-year-old was also wounded in that shooting.
Homicide detectives continue to investigate both killings.
