Four people were injured and a fifth was killed in separate shootings Monday, Baltimore police said.
The homicide occurred at 1:28 p.m. in the 1800 block of W. Saratoga Street in the Franklin Square community in West Baltimore. Police said a man was shot and taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.
His name was not released as of Monday evening.
The non-fatal shootings included an incident at 5:25 p.m., in which a 23-year-old man was shot in the area of the 700 block of Mello Court in East Baltimore. Police said they received a ShotSpotter alert, arrived at the scene and chased after potential suspects. A handgun was recovered, police said.
Around 6:35 p.m., a man and a woman were in a car in the 200 block of N. Eutaw Street, by Lexington Market, when someone shot at their vehicle, police said. The man, 27, was shot in the hand and went to an area hospital for treatment. The woman was not injured.
Earlier in the day, around 12:24 p.m., police said officers were called to the 800 block of W. Saratoga Street in Poppleton, also in West Baltimore, where a 26-year old man was found with a gunshot wound to his side. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
And police said a 23-year-old woman was shot in her hand Monday morning. Officers were called at 9 a.m. to a local hospital, where the woman had gone for treatment. She told investigators she was shot by an unknown assailant in the 1200 block of E. Lanvale Street in the Oliver neighborhood.
