5 shot Tuesday evening in Baltimore

Baltimore police were investigating the non-fatal shootings of five people Tuesday evening in what officers believe were four separate incidents.

The first report of a shooting occurred at about 7:15 p.m. when officers were called to a hospital for an adult male victim who had walked in with a shooting wound to the chest. A short time later, a second shooting victim arrived at the hospital. Neither would cooperate with the police, and investigations believe their wounds "may have" occurred during the same incident, officers said.

The second incident occurred at about 8:15 p.m. in Northwest Baltimore's Howard Park neighborhood. In the 5000 block of Hampshire Ave., officers found a man with a gunshot wound to his face, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital.

Minutes later, officers were alerted to another shooting in Southwest Baltimore's Edgewood neighborhood. Police arrived at the 700 block of Linnard St., where they found a man with a gunshot wound to his arm. The victim was taken to a hospital.

Then, at about 10 p.m., another shooting was reported in South Baltimore's Carrollton Ridge neighborhood. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg in the 200 block of S. Payson St. He was taken to a hospital.

Citywide shooting detectives were investigating each of the cases. Police ask anyone with information to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup.

So far this year, more than 540 people have been shot in Baltimore — a 3 percent increase from this time last year.
