Man shot in West Baltimore dies after being found lying in the street

One man was killed and two other people were injured in two overnight shootings, Baltimore police said.

Police said Leo Cooper, 31, was gunned down while walking to a gas station and was discovered at about 12:45 a.m by an officer who was on his way to another call.

The officer found Cooper with a gunshot wound to the chest, lying in the middle of the 3300 block of W. Caton Avenue. Cooper was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Witnesses told police Cooper was walking to the Sunoco gas station in the 3300 block of W. Baltimore Street, when they heard gunshots.

At 1:31 a.m., police were called to the 3800 block of 8th Street in Brooklyn for a report of a shooting.

They found two victims, a 39-year-old man and 59-year-old woman. They were taken to an area hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
