Baltimore police investigating two new homicides Monday

A man was shot and killed in West Baltimore late Sunday.

Baltimore police are investigating two homicide scenes after shootings late Sunday and Monday morning.

Officers responded to the 5300 block of Gist Avenue in the Woodmere area of Northwest Baltimore, where a 23-year-old man was found shot around 11:30 a.m. Monday. The man was transported to Sinai Hospital, where he died, police said.

Homicide detectives are investigating and anyone with information may call detectives at 410-396-2100, or Metro Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 1-866-7LOCKUP.

About 12 hours earlier, police responded to a fatal shooting in West Baltimore.

Police found the man in the 1500 block of N. Smallwood Street in Coppin Heights at 11:30 p.m. Medics were treating the man for gunshot wounds to his head; he was later pronounced dead at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Police did not identify suspects, victims or motives in either shooting.
