Police investigating overnight homicide, shooting

A man was fatally shot while unloading his vehicle in northwest Baltimore Monday night, Baltimore police said.

A man was fatally shot while unloading his vehicle in northwest Baltimore Monday night, Baltimore police said.

Police found Stonie Baker, 45, suffering from several gunshot wounds at about 10:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of Edgewood Road. Baker was taken to Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead about a half hour later.

Baker had been unloading his vehicle, when police said an unknown gunman appeared and opened fire, striking him multiple times.

Police are also investigating a non-fatal shooting shortly before 9 p.m. A 24-year-old was found in the 1500 block of Druid Hill Avenue, suffering from gunshot wounds to the hand and thigh.

The victim was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive, police said.

The victim told officers he was shot in the 1300 block of North Carey Street, and then ran to the 1500 block of Druid Hill Avenue where he called for help, police said.
