A man was shot in the head early Friday morning in Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park area, according to police.
Officers responded around 2:30 a.m. to the 1200 block of N. Woodington Road for a report of a shooting, police said. Police said a male was found suffering a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to an area hospital where he is listed in grave condition.
Due to the severity of the victim's injuries, homicide detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to call 410-396-2100.
Police said more information will be released as it becomes available.
This incident followed a night of five shootings within two hours in the city. Two males – a 14-year-old and 31-year-old – were found shot in separate areas of Belair-Edison; two men in their 50s were victims of a shooting in Johnston Square; and a 19-year-old was shot near Mondawmin Mall.
There have been more than 300 shootings in Baltimore this year, up from 163 this time last year, according to police.
