2 shot overnight in Mondawmin area of W. Baltimore

Four people were injured in overnight shootings, including a 26-year-old woman and 29-year-old man who were shot in the city's Mondawmin neighborhood, Baltimore police said.

Officers were called at 1:53 a.m. Thursday to the 1900 block of Clifton Ave., where they found a 26-year-old woman shot in the leg and buttocks and a 29-year old man shot in the leg, police said. The victims were taken to an area hospital, police said. Their conditions were not immediate available.

Earlier, around 11:15 p.m., officers were called to a hospital for a report of a shooting victim that walked in. Police said the man, 33, had been shot in the arm. Detectives determined the shooting occurred in the 2400 block of Reisterstown Road, also in the Mondawmin neighborhood.

Western District Detectives are investigating both shootings and anyone with information may call 410-396-2477.

About 20 minutes earlier, at 10:54 p.m. police Northwest District officers were called to the 4400 block of Towanda Ave. in the Towanda-Grantley section for a report of a shooting, and found an 18-year old man who had been shot in the leg. He was taken to an area hospital.

District detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to call 410-396-2466.

The city has counted 253 non-fatal shootings this year, up from 137 at the same time last year. Homicides are also up: 136 this year vs. 91 at this point in 2014.

Police on Thursday also announced the arrest of a 24-year-old man suspected in a shooting in Carrollton Ridge on June 12.

Wells, who goes by the name "Wildchild," is accused of shooting a man seven times in the kitchen of a home in the 1800 block of McHenry St. at about 1:43 a.m., police said.

No lawyer for Wells was listed in court records. A hearing is scheduled for July 16, and he is being held without bail.
