Baltimore police investigate overnight shooting

Baltimore police are investigating an overnight shooting in the Greenmount West neighborhood.

At 2:20 a.m., police say, a man walked into Union Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to his right leg. The man told police that he was in the 1400 block of Guilford Avenue when an unknown suspect approached him while he was seated in his vehicle, fired one shot and fled.

Central District detectives are investigating and have no suspects.

The shooting was the only reported incident of violent crime after Tuesday's "National Night Out," which was celebrated across the nation and city with parades and barbecues as a way to strengthen community bonds and empower residents to take back their streets from drugs and crime. The mayor, council members and the police commissioner attended several events across Baltimore.
