Donnell Walker, of the 4100 block of Rondo Court, faces attempted murder, reckless endangerment, assault and gun charges, police said. Walker was charged Friday, before Gwaltney died, and additional charges are pending, police said.

Walker rode up to Gwaltney on a bike and shot him in the head and torso from a few feet away at about 3 p.m. in the 4100 block of 10th St., police said. Walker then turned and shot into a crowd of people nearby, hitting a 26-year-old, who was treated for his injuries and released from a hospital, police said.

Investigators found blood and two green plastic bags of a powder suspected to be cocaine by the bicycle on the street, according to a police report.

No attorney was listed for Walker in online state court records, and a phone number listed for his home was disconnected.

He is currently being held at the Baltimore City Detention Center, and an initial court appearance is set for April 21.
