A woman is hospitalized from gunshot wounds after she and another woman tried to escape an attempted robbery in West Baltimore early Sunday, police said.
The two women were trying to drive away from the 1100 block of W. Lafayette Avenue in Sandtown-Winchester when a man who attempted to rob and assault them at the location began shooting at the car. A 24-year-old woman, who was a passenger, was shot in the upper body, according to police.
The driver continued to drive from the scene toward a hospital when the car crashed into a wall in the 100 block of W. Mulberry Street. The driver sustained minor injuries in the crash, according to police.
Officers responded to the crash scene around 3 a.m., according to police.
Both women were taken to an area hospital for treatment, police said. The shooting victim's condition was not available Sunday.
Police did not have a suspect description Sunday morning.
