Weekend starts off violently with multiple shootings

The weekend began with an outburst of violence in Baltimore, according to police, with four people shot, including one fatally, overnight Friday, and three others shot later Saturday.

A 40-year-old man was fatally shot in the 1800 block of N. Durham Street in Broadway East just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Police said the man was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Homicide detectives are investigating.

At 10:32 p.m. Friday, a 35-year-old man was shot in multiple times in the city's Mondawmin neighborhood, police said. Officers responded to the 2000 N. Payson Street for a report of gunshots and found a victim who had been shot in the head, back and arm. He was taken to an area hospital where he's listed in critical condition. Western District Detectives are investigating.

A 48-year-old woman is in stable condition after she was shot in the chest in the 300 block of North Franklintown Road in Penrose/Fayette Street Outreach neighborhood at 1:15 a.m., police said.

At 1:50 a.m. in the 200 block of N. Conkling Street, a 25-year-old man was shot in the shoulder, police said. He is listed in stable condition. Southwest District Detectives are investigating both incidents.

On Saturday afternoon at 3:21 p.m., officers went to the 3000 block of Wylie Avenue in Northwest Baltimore's Parklane neighborhood to investigate a shooting, police said. They found a 26-year-old man suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition, police said.

Shortly before 6:30 p.m. officers went to a hospital to investigate a 22-year-old man who had walked in with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. Investigators concluded that the shooting happened in the 4100 block of Hyden Court in Brooklyn.

Detectives are also investigating a man who was reported to have been shot in the head around 8:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of Boone Street in the Better Waverly neighborhood, police said. A 39-year-old man was taken to the hospital and was listed in critical condition Saturday evening, police said.

Also Saturday, police said two victims of shootings earlier on Friday had died and identified the victims. Tyrell Hardy, 22, was fatally shot in the 1200 block of N. Woodington Road in the early hours of Friday morning. Darrius Johnson, 19, was shot in the 5100 block of Park Heights Avenue on Friday afternoon and died after being taken to the hospital. Another man was wounded in the same incident.
