Two men were shot, one fatally, in separate incidents in Southwest Baltimore on Monday, police said.
A 32-year-old man was killed just before 3 p.m. in the 2000 block of Denison St. — the second shooting in the block of pawn shops and convenience stores in as many weeks.
The victim of Monday's shooting, who was not immediately identified pending next-of-kin notification, was taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead, police said.
Val Shapiro, who owns Gold Trading Center pawn shop on the corner of Denison and Clifton Avenue, said he heard about eight shots and called police Monday afternoon. "It scared the bejesus out of me," he said.
The previous incident, in which a man was shot in the hand, happened on Tuesday, Dec. 16. Footage from Shapiro's surveillance camera didn't show either shooting, he said.
The back-to-back shootings rattled the 46-year-old, who said he has owned and operated his shop in the Walbrook neighborhood for 23 years.
"Florida sounds really good right about now," he said.
Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting, and anyone with information may call 410-396-2100.
In the other incident Monday, a man was shot in the arm in Irvington early in the morning, at about 1:42 a.m., police said.
