Three city shootings leave two in critical condition

City police are investigating three shootings Friday that left two victims in critical condition.

The first occurred in the 2300 block Harford Road, where police were called at 12:48 p.m. to find a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head. Detectives investigating the incident believe the victim was walking in that block when approached and shot by an unknown assailant. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he was in critical condition, according to police.

Officers were called at 6:18 p.m. to the 1700 block Preston St., where they found a 59-year-old man who had been shot in the back. Investigators believe he was shot in the 1200 block N. Gay St. That victim also was in critical condition after being transported to an area hospital, police said.

Around 7:13 p.m., a man walked into an area hospital with a gunshot wound to his hand. Detectives determined the wound was self-inflicted and are continuing to investigate, police said.
