Man, 27, shot to death in car in Frankford

A 27-year-old man was shot to death Thursday while driving a car in Frankford, police said.

Officers were called at 1:20 p.m. to the 4600 block of Mannasota Ave. in the Northeast Baltimore neighborhood, where they found the man shot in the head inside the car, police said.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

City Councilman Brandon Scott said he was driving home to let his dog out when he noticed the victim's car stopped in a yard of one of the homes.

He said the killing, which happened a mile and a half from his house and just up Moravia Road from Furley Elementary School, was "all-around unfortunate."

"I grew up in Baltimore in the '90s," he said. "You understand that it happens, but you never accept it."

"When it happens in my district, in my neighborhood, I'm going to be a little more angry about it," he added.

Police did not release any details on a suspect or motive. Anyone with information may call 410-396-2100.

Also Thursday, Southwest District detectives are investigating a shooting that sent a 15-year-old girl to an area hospital. Police said they have been unable to determine where the shooting took place, but that the girl is being treated for a gunshot to the hip area.
