A 34-year-old man was charged with sexually abusing a 5-year-old in a Southeast Baltimore home where he was renting a room, police said.
Jose Ricardo Garcia is charged with attempted sex offenses, sexual abuse of a minor and assault in the May 28 incident in the home in the 3400 block of E. Baltimore St., according to court records. Police announced the charges Tuesday.
Garcia denied the allegations, saying the child had come out of the bathroom, started hugging him and asked him to stay and watch TV with him.
No attorney was listed for Garcia in online court records. He was booked and is being held on $500,000 bail.
