ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A Maryland board meeting where officials were to consider authorizing $20 million in state rainy day funds to pay for April's response to rioting in Baltimore has been postponed.
The Board of Public Works was scheduled to discuss the spending at a meeting in Annapolis on Wednesday, but the meeting is being rescheduled. No new date has been set. The board's next meeting is July 1.
Gov. Larry Hogan, one of three board members, announced in May that he planned to use the money to cover expenses related to deployment of the Maryland National Guard and other costs to respond to rioting after the death of Freddie Gray in police custody.
Matt Clark, a spokesman for Hogan, says the governor could not attend the meeting due to a personal matter.
