Two men were shot by an Annapolis man amid an early morning fight in Federal Hill, Baltimore police said Sunday.
Around 2 a.m., police responded to the unit block of E. Cross St., where they found two men shot. In a post on his Facebook page, Baltimore Councilman Eric Costello said police commanders told him the shooting was in front of the Pizza Bolis at 13 E. Cross St.
Police have identified the suspect as 24-year-old Steven Perkins from Annapolis. He is charged with several counts of attempted murder, assault, and various handgun related charges, police said. A lawyer for Perkins could not be found in online court records.
Police said the suspect was involved in an argument with a group of individuals in the block, when he pulled out a handgun and fired at them. He missed the group he was arguing and struck two unintended victims.
One man was shot in the foot, the other was grazed by a bullet, police said. Both were taken to hospitals for treatment, and their conditions were not immediately known. One victim was shot in the heel and the other was grazed on the nose, Costello said. The two victims were both from Virginia, though one lives in Federal Hill, he said.
Baltimore police don't identify the victims of nonfatal shootings.
Several witnesses identified the suspect to officers and he was taken into custody. Police also recovered a handgun.
