Boy, 13, killed among spate of shootings overnight in Baltimore

A 13-year-old boy was among two people who were killed in a spate of overnight shootings, police said Saturday.

Four other people were injured in the shootings, all of which occured within about two hours Friday night into Saturday morning.

Two people were shot in the 900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue at about 1:33 a.m.

Deandre Barnes, 13, was pronounced dead at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma center. The second victim, a 21-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Earlier, at about 12:50 a.m., police responded to a walk-in shooting victim at an area hospital. The victim was a 28-year-old male, who told detectives he was shot on the 500 block of Dolphin Street in Upton.

At about 12:18 a.m. Saturday, citizens in the 5800 block of York Road in Rosebank flagged down a police officer to report a shooting. The officer called for a medic to respond to a 27-year-old male shooting victim.

Late Friday, police were called to a hospital in East Baltimore at about 11:27 p.m. to investigate a walk-in shooting victim. The victim, a 22-year-old male, had been shot in the thigh in the 1700 block of Milton Avenue in Broadway East, police said.

Less than 20 minutes later, police responded to a reported shooting on the 400 block of East 22nd Street in Barclay.

Officers found Garrison Derricks, 23, suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
