Baltimore police charged a man with shooting his fiancee in the leg after the couple got into an argument following a New Year's Eve party.
Kirk Everette Cooper, 45, is charged with shooting his 44-year-old fiancee in the leg at their home in the 5500 block of Whitby Road in the Cedonia neighborhood around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.
The victim, who was not identified by police, told detectives that she and Cooper attended a New Year's party earlier in the evening when they got into an argument. He left the party without her and returned to their home where he started packing his belongings into a car. The victim told Cooper not to take the car, causing another argument. Cooper then pulled out a silver revolver handgun and shot the victim once in the right leg, the victim told police. She fled the house through the back door.
Cooper faces attempted murder, assault and weapons charges and is being held at the Baltimore City Detention Center.
