A 37-year-old man pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court Thursday to robbing a Northwest Baltimore 7-Eleven — a stick-up that ended with him being shot by a police officer.
Tywon McIntyre entered a guilty plea to one count of robbery, court records show. Prosecutors say he faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
McIntyre robbed the convenience store, in the 2500 block of Liberty Heights Ave., on Feb. 12, 2014. As he walked out of the store with the cash drawer, Officer Betavia Elliott confronted him and told him to put his hands up, according to police records.
Elliott, believing McIntyre had a weapon, fired two shots and wounded him. He did not have a weapon but police recovered $268 in cash and said McIntrye was carrying a pair of latex gloves and face mask, according to police records.
Following a review by police investigators, Elliott was commended for her actions.
