Driver with marijuana tries to flee crash in Uber, police say

A driver crashed a car with 17 pounds of marijuana Monday in Northwest Baltimore, police said, and tried to use the Uber car service to get away.

Brandon McDaniel, 32, was arrested trying to leave in an Uber from near the crash scene, police said. An attorney could not be found for McDaniel to comment.

A silver Mercury crashed into a light pole in the 4000 block of El Dorado Ave. in Howard Park. Bystanders told an officer the driver ran away. McDaniel was quickly found and arrested, police said.

Police said they found 17 freezer bags of marijuana, each weighing about a pound.
