Cecil County State's Attorney charged with indecent exposure, disorderly conduct

Cecil County's top prosecutor has been charged with indecent exposure and disorderly conduct, the Worcester County State's Attorney announced Monday.

Edward D. Rollins III, who has served as Cecil's state attorney since 2011, was charged with two counts of each misdemeanor, Worcester County State's Attorney Beau Oglesby said.

The charges stem from an incident in Ocean City Wednesday afternoon. Police received reports of a nude man on a balcony and responded to the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel, where they took Rollins into custody.

Rollins was initially released without charges but could now face as much as three years in prison and $1000 in fines.

Filing criminal charges was "the most appropriate" course of action "given the need to handle this matter with transparency balanced against the desire to shield the identities of the victims," Oglesby said

Rollins is a nominee for a vacant seat on the Cecil County Circuit Court, according to the state courts website.

Steven L. Trostle, the deputy state's attorney for Cecil County, declined to comment on the charges.
