Two men were killed in separate shootings in Baltimore on Thursday, police said Friday.
The two fatal shootings marked the 275th and 276th homicides in Baltimore this year.
About 4:45 p.m., police were called to the 1000 block of Homewood Avenue in East Baltimore and located a 29-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. The man was transferred to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said.
Police did not immediately identify the man, pending the notification of his family.
About 10:32 p.m., police were called to the 3400 block of Milford Avenue in Northwest Baltimore and found 23-year-old Devin Colton suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, police said.
Colton was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call homicide detectives at 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7-LOCK-UP.
The city is on pace to pass 300 homicides this year for only the second time since the 1990s. Following a huge spike in killings, the city saw 344 homicides in 2015 — a per capita record.
Through Nov. 12, homicides this year were 9 percent below last year's pace, but non-fatal shootings were up 5 percent. There had been 815 total shootings in the city, the same exact number as the same time last year.
