A 90-year-old woman is in critical condition after being assaulted during a home invasion in Northwest Baltimore on Wednesday, according to police.
Officers were called to the 4500 block of Garden Drive, in the Central Park Heights neighborhood, about 12:30 p.m. for a report of a possible home invasion, and upon arrival "spoke with a neighbor who told them the door to the home was open and they were concerned for the well-being of the elderly woman inside," police said.
When the officers entered the home they found the 90-year-old woman, who lives in the home, suffering from "multiple injuries" to her body and "unable to move or call for the police," police said.
The woman, who was not identified, was transferred to a local hospital, where she was listed in critical, but stable condition on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Police believe whoever assaulted the woman was unknown to her. It was unclear Wednesday whether anything had been stolen from the home.
Anyone with information is asked to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7-LOCK-UP.
