A student tried to enter a Baltimore school with a loaded gun Thursday, city schools officials said.
A school police officer recovered the weapon from a student at Achievement Academy at Harbor City High School, officials said in a statement. The gun was not used to threaten anyone, and the student was taken to Central Booking.
"Providing safe, secure, and positive climates for teaching and learning is City Schools' top priority," the statement read. "Under City Schools' student Code of Conduct, a student who brings a weapon on school grounds faces the maximum consequences, including possible permanent expulsion."
