14-year-old dead in Brooklyn double shooting

Police are asking for the community's help in finding the suspect or suspects in the shooting of an adult male and a teenager on the 4100 block of Audrey Avenue. Both victims were transported to the hospital.

A 14-year-old boy was killed and a 28-year-old man was injured in a double shooting in the Brooklyn neighborhood in South Baltimore near the Anne Arundel County border Wednesday, police said.

Baltimore police on Thursday identified the teen as Tywaun Short, of 4100 block of Mariban Court in Brooklyn.

Officers were called just before 5:30 p.m. to the 4100 block of Audrey Ave., where they found the victims with gunshot wounds, police said. Both were taken to a hospital, where Short died from his injuries, police said.

The 28-year-old was being treated for his injuries Wednesday night. His condition was not released.

The two were shot by an unknown suspect or suspects who entered the block and shot them before fleeing the scene, police said.

It was not clear whether the men were both the intended targets. Homicide detectives are investigating whether the double shooting is related to other recent violence in the area, including a drive-by shooting in the county Tuesday and a double shooting that killed 20-year-old Victor Gwaltney less than a half-mile away last month.

It's the third time a juvenile has been killed in Baltimore this year. Matthew Thomas, 11, was killed in a murder-suicide by his father in January, and Malik Fuller, 16, died in a double shooting that also injured another 16-year-old in February.

Anyone with information may call the Homicide Unit at 410-396-2100.

Later Wednesday night at about 10 p.m., a man was found shot in the leg in the 3200 block of Tivoly Ave. in the Coldstream-Homestead-Montebello neighborhood of Northeast Baltimore, police said. No additional details were released.
