A 26-year-old Dundalk man was arrested Wednesday, nearly two weeks after police said he threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend in text messages, then drove to her house in Baltimore dressed as a police officer, armed with a gun.

Renul Forbes is charged with second-degree assault and a gun violation in the June 12 incident, according to court documents.

The woman told police Forbes sent her the threatening text messages during an argument about child support, and showed up at her home in the 2400 block of N. Ellamont St. in Hanlon-Longwood at about 2:50 p.m.

She and her current boyfriend said Forbes had a handgun holstered at his hip and beckoned her outside for "a surprise," according to a police report.

"Are you really going to shoot me in front of my kids?" she asked, according to police.

"Mr. Forbes responded to the effect of, 'Yes. Come outside right now,'" police said.

The two shut the door and called 911, police said. Forbes fled and was caught by police 12 days later. He was barred by a temporary court order from contacting or going near the ex-girlfriend's home, records show.

No lawyer was listed for Forbes, and no one answered the phone at his home in the 800 block of Avondale Road. He is being held at Baltimore City Central Booking, police said.
